Paper marbling and Monoprinting

To complement our bookbinding sessions, we tried our hand at paper marbling at Basic Mountain Studio.XSVF5715

The prints are achieved by using oil based ink in a tray with water; the design floats on the water and covers the paper dipped in the tray.IMG_0205.JPG

It was interesting to see how many different designs can come out of the same set of colours. IMG_0190.JPG

To make it more interesting, we added another technique, monoprinting on paper using block printing ink and foam sheets.IMG_0193.JPG

This was when Luke first started thinking about “Green Court”, this print was an intuitive interpretation of the character of “Green Man”:IMG_0191
